Reading Ethereum headlines

An Ethereum headline may concern the mainnet, a layer 2 network or an application. Layer 2 systems process transactions outside mainnet, and their security models can differ. Identify the network before comparing activity, fees or an upgrade announcement.

What to check in a headline

• Check whether an upgrade is proposed, being tested or active on the network named in the report.
• For fee comparisons, look for the transaction type, network and observation period.
• Separate protocol developments from ETH trading and broader market commentary.
